Unity College is a small school with a huge sustainability story to tell. We know Unity won’t solve the world’s climate crisis by going carbon neutral, but we will help by modeling our approach to carbon neutrality to other colleges, to other sectors, and – most importantly – to our students. Our approach to sustainability education necessarily influences college operations and governance in a way that we hope moves the dial beyond on our own campus.

Several recent planning efforts reveal Unity’s approach to demonstrating sustainability in action:
As signatory to the American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), we’ve committed to carbon neutrality as soon as possible.
In 2011, we conducted a campus-wide building energy assessment and developed a slate of energy conservation measures that will increase efficiency and decrease campus energy use.
Unity College was a Charter Participant in AASHE’s comprehensive Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) in 2011, detailing our sustainability performance in 1. Education & Research, 2. Operations, and 3. Planning, Administration & Engagement.
Unity College Sustainability Fund
As a Founding Member of the Billion Dollar Green Challenge, Unity has established a $130,000 green revolving loan fund for investment in energy efficiency and sustainability projects.
