For the commencement speaker for this year’s graduation, Unity is pleased to announce Gary Paul Nabhan. Dr. Nabhan is a well-celebrated nature writer and is known in many countries. He has written over 24 books, is a conversation biologist, a seed saver, and a sustainable agriculture activist. Mother Earth News has even called him “the father of the local food movement.” He has received many awards for his literary nonfiction, including a MacArthur “Genius” Award, John Burroughs Medal for nature writing, the Vavilov Medal, and a Pew Fellowship in Conservation and Environment. His books encompass heritage foods, vegetable farmers, and food movements. Dr. Nabhan associates well with Unity’s mission statement, and Unity welcomes him as a speaker. We look forward to hearing from Dr. Nabhan.
