AASHE Resources Reminder

AASHE –or the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, if you’re not into the whole brevity thing –is an organization dedicated to promoting sustainable actions on college campuses. If ever there was an organization whose goals stride hand-in-hand with those of Unity College, this is the one.

Of course, Unity is a member of this organization –how could we resist an organization designed to help us as a college campus achieve our goals? You may have heard of the STARS initiative around campus, an assessment program which allows schools to report on campus sustainability efforts. All the institutions can be seen online -see how Unity rates amongst hundreds of other schools with this map.

That’s not all AASHE can do for you. As members, we get to reap the benefits of AASHE’s resource center. The pages and pages of resources open only to members can be found on here. This information includes case studies about how other campuses are implementing sustainability practices throughout many disciplines –from energy consumption to integrated pest management strategies –as well as tips on how to promote sustainability on your campus.

Whatever you might want to learn from the organization, you can access it for free by creating your own account on AASHE’s website. This way, you too can gain access to webinars, sustainability research, and much more content simply by creating an account with your school email address.
