The Common Ground Country Fair is MOFGA’s “celebration of rural living” that annually draws more than 60,000 people to Unity, Maine.
The Fair includes exhibits, food, performances, demonstrations, workshops, and talks on a wide range of sustainability issues of interest to our students, employees, and visiting alums.
This year, Unity College is partnering with MOFGA to increase waste diversion rates at the Fair.
We’ll monitor recycling stations and engage the public about pre-sorting food waste, recycling, and trash – making the job easier on other sorting volunteers.
We need outgoing folks – students and employees – willing to talk to strangers and keep a positive attitude. Shifts available Friday morning through Sunday afternoon. Sign up! We’ll train you.
Volunteers get free admission for the day they work, a coveted Common Ground Fair volunteer t-shirt, and a meal from the “common kitchen” during your shift.
At this point we can only take FIVE VOLUNTEERS FOR EACH SHIFT (that’s 30 total) – so sign up soon!
You may sign up for multiple shifts, but only one per day.
If a shift is unavailable but you remain interested, please email Jesse Pyles to be put on the waiting list.
*Note: you may sign up to volunteer on your own for a before, during, or after the Fair.
*Note: If you’ve already signed up to volunteer with the Unity College FFA for parking, you may not sign up for this opportunity on the same day.
